Conceptual Design - Uptown Greenville Townhomes
While a Partner with MHAworks, Albrecht McLawhorn, AIA led a talented design team on the 79,000 SF new ECU Health Science Campus Student Center. The project had a total budget of $34 million dollars and is presently on track to become a LEED Gold certified building. The facility features multiple food venues, a Starbucks, student services, study spaces of various types, a large banquet/meeting room, a recreation center, art gallery space, and ample outdoor gathering spaces. The entire building was designed with the principles of active design in mind, whereby health and movement are celebrated. As part of that guiding principle, the building features open stairs and a stainless steel slide connecting a third level to the floor below.
Division 2 badly needed a new maintenance depot to replace an antiquated nearby facility. The new $7.5 million dollar facility featured ample space for servicing and cleaning all types of DOT vehicles.
One of the last commissions, INTREPID Architecture's Albrecht McLawhorn was privileged to lead while a Partner with MHAworks was the complete 30,000 SF renovation of the PCC library. The project was completed in phases, thereby allowing the library to remain occupied throughout the construction period.
